The Giraffe comes together…..

This is the very first “caddie” that Steven and I collaborated on.  The whole project was an experiment.  First of all, to see if the wood and ceramics were compatible for our purposes.  Secondly, to see if I could leave room for a fabric liner and last but not least, if I could make the giraffe become what I saw in my head.  So far we were more than pleased with the progress.

The pieces are now out of the kiln, shiny and ready for attaching to the box.  The box, I decided to make an extension of the giraffe.  I painted it with spots also.  I left the liner a neutral color, just couldn’t find the right material.  This will work for the inagural  box.

I had just finished this box, when a friend of our daughter, Maureen, announced she was going to have a baby.  Maureen and I went shopping to fill this caddie for the upcoming baby shower.

I found some fabric that I liked a whole lot better too!  This experiment was a huge success!  The giraffe caddie also fit into the decor for the baby’s room too.

Hmmmm….. now what am I going to do next………….. Cyn

About designbycyn

Sonoma County, California ceramic enthusiasts Cyn and Steven Gradek have worked in the clay medium since 1996. They had a retail store where they held classes and provided the essentials for fellow ceramic enthusiasts. The business evolved into producing for other retail outlets and artist. Which quickly grew and they closed the retail storefront and concentrated on the wholesale business. With their 3 children raised and on their own, they had time to pursue their own creativity. Cyn learned how to embroider from her Grandma Cirner at a young age. After that she found sewing, cross stitching, crocheting, well you get the jist, LOL. She hasn't met a craft that she hasn't liked. Blogging was suggested by her youngest daughter, Colleen. At first it was a battle to get her to try it, but eventually Cyn started to enjoy the exercise. The blog on Cyn's website was limiting, so Colleen got her started with Wordpress. Hope you enjoy her Adventures with Creativity!
