Ohhh, you better watch out……

You better not cry…….. Yeah, Christmas is everywhere and we haven’t even gotten to Trick or Treat yet.  When I went back to work full time, geez that was in March, I knew being back in the retail arena Christmas would come way too early.  Truthfully, I wasn’t even remotely prepared for the onslaught!  My work hours are 5am to 1pm, so I really don’t deal much with the consumers.   The push for Christmas is still everywhere I look though.

What I find to be so sad is the slow death and disappearance of Thanksgiving!  On the news, word is spreading about the 8pm Thanksgiving Day opening of Black Friday.  They are going to have to come out with a new catch phrase for Black Friday, it is now Black Thursday.  Oh rats, I promised myself that I wouldn’t let the retail race for the holiday boodle bags get to me.  “F” is my failing grade, pretty pathetic huh, LOL.   Okay, today is a new day and I am going to work my fanny off to turn around the consumerism into my own warm and fuzzy family holiday-ism.

First on my list is to give you an update on my “fresh from their spa day” canning rims.  The excitement over their transformation has them all congregating together.  The need to show off their new look is contagious, everyone had the same idea…………………….

canningrimwreath1Pretty impressive, don’t you think?  You can see where I am headed with this rehabilitation project.  A Christmas wreath, but not just any wreath.  This wreath will be the talk of the town (not that many will see it, I live down a dirt road).  I still have to get more canning rims through their spa day, not quite enough to accomplish what I had in mind.  I also want to add some wire enhanced ribbon, well suffice it to say we are not done yet.  It is a start though on my own desire to create a home grown, hand made and magical Christmas holiday with an emphasis on family not finances.

Please come back and see my progress in this effort………… Cyn

About designbycyn

Sonoma County, California ceramic enthusiasts Cyn and Steven Gradek have worked in the clay medium since 1996. They had a retail store where they held classes and provided the essentials for fellow ceramic enthusiasts. The business evolved into producing for other retail outlets and artist. Which quickly grew and they closed the retail storefront and concentrated on the wholesale business. With their 3 children raised and on their own, they had time to pursue their own creativity. Cyn learned how to embroider from her Grandma Cirner at a young age. After that she found sewing, cross stitching, crocheting, well you get the jist, LOL. She hasn't met a craft that she hasn't liked. Blogging was suggested by her youngest daughter, Colleen. At first it was a battle to get her to try it, but eventually Cyn started to enjoy the exercise. The blog on Cyn's website designbycyn.com was limiting, so Colleen got her started with Wordpress. Hope you enjoy her Adventures with Creativity!
