Fairy Break…………..

My bread and butter is ceramics, it has been for going on 20 years now.  I never really get the chance to paint any ceramics for pleasure, most of the time it is for someone else.  You would think that my yard and house would be filled with ceramic piece, sadly no.  I tend to give them away when they are admired.  I take that back, I have boxes of Santa Clauses that I have painted over the years.  Then again, they will also be given away when the time comes. LOL

Deciding to change things up, I casted a garden fairy a couple months ago.  I wasn’t sure if I would end up getting to paint it myself or not.  When my customers come by the house, it never fails that they see the pieces I have casted that day drying outside (if the weather permits), usually it ends up being bought before I can get it started.  Life intervenes before I get around to casting another one.  This time I was able to get it cleaned and fired before someone bought it!

Fairystep1Isn’t she beautiful!  She is ready to go and I am ready to paint for fun!  My task now is to base-coat her in 2 coats of medium grey underglaze paint and let her dry.  Then we’ll see where she takes me…….  fun, fun, fun,…….. Cyn

About designbycyn

Sonoma County, California ceramic enthusiasts Cyn and Steven Gradek have worked in the clay medium since 1996. They had a retail store where they held classes and provided the essentials for fellow ceramic enthusiasts. The business evolved into producing for other retail outlets and artist. Which quickly grew and they closed the retail storefront and concentrated on the wholesale business. With their 3 children raised and on their own, they had time to pursue their own creativity. Cyn learned how to embroider from her Grandma Cirner at a young age. After that she found sewing, cross stitching, crocheting, well you get the jist, LOL. She hasn't met a craft that she hasn't liked. Blogging was suggested by her youngest daughter, Colleen. At first it was a battle to get her to try it, but eventually Cyn started to enjoy the exercise. The blog on Cyn's website designbycyn.com was limiting, so Colleen got her started with Wordpress. Hope you enjoy her Adventures with Creativity!
