Lost in Wonderland…..

For some unknown reason, the singing flowers in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland have been cavorting in my head for weeks!  All of a sudden I will start to sing in my head, “Within that world of my own….”, or ” All in the golden afternoon…..”.  Ay Caramba!  I am usually out in the garden dead heading the iris or weeding the flower beds.  Call me crazy, but there had to be a reason these songs kept coming into my head!

The flow of creativity has been stilted for a while, especially where clay/ceramics were involved.  In my head, I kept seeing flowers with faces singing to me, so I decided I’d better go with it and see where it was leading me.  The dexterity of my right hand has never quite came back after I broke my wrist, so logic follows that I have stayed away from my ceramics/clay.  I pulled out my catalog of our mold inventory and just started to look at all the pictures.  I figured something would jump out at me and start me in the direction those singing flowers were calling from.  Falling down that “Rabbit Hole” could be just what I needed!

When I got to the figurines/fairies pages, the sunflower babies pulled at me.  I pulled them and just casted their faces.

So cute and one step closer to the images playing in my mind.  I knew where I was going with this and got to work rolling some clay out.

Now, I need to wait for her to dry.  I have a sneaking idea that I can almost see where this is going….. Cyn

About designbycyn

Sonoma County, California ceramic enthusiasts Cyn and Steven Gradek have worked in the clay medium since 1996. They had a retail store where they held classes and provided the essentials for fellow ceramic enthusiasts. The business evolved into producing for other retail outlets and artist. Which quickly grew and they closed the retail storefront and concentrated on the wholesale business. With their 3 children raised and on their own, they had time to pursue their own creativity. Cyn learned how to embroider from her Grandma Cirner at a young age. After that she found sewing, cross stitching, crocheting, well you get the jist, LOL. She hasn't met a craft that she hasn't liked. Blogging was suggested by her youngest daughter, Colleen. At first it was a battle to get her to try it, but eventually Cyn started to enjoy the exercise. The blog on Cyn's website designbycyn.com was limiting, so Colleen got her started with Wordpress. Hope you enjoy her Adventures with Creativity!
